mcconville Family History

McConville= Originating in Counties Derry and Tyrone, this surname descends from a native Irish Gaelic tribe now centered in the areas of Dungiven and Limavady, in County Londonderry. They were officers in the armies of the two most powerful clans in Derry, the O'Kanes and the O'Connors. They then moved to Keenaght and become a sept of the Cenel Eoghain (Clann Owen), which descends from King Niall of the Nine Hostages.
